Guess what? Your poop stinks too!

No, this is not an April fools post.    There is something brewing in my soul as I am witnessing how Christians respond, react, or think about this ugliness called racism.  So here it goes.

I am talking to all of you who claim to be a born-again believer, a Bible-believing Christian.  This post is for you.

When you came to the feet of the cross to repent, to ask for forgiveness of your sins and to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus, you not only became a new creation of Christ, but you were given a new start.  You admitted to and agreed that "all have fallen short of the glory of God"; all, yes all!  You were given a new birth certificate, with the stamp of the Holy Spirit, not from a doctor.  This birth certificate states you are now a new person, a citizen of heaven.  You are here in this world, on a mission, you are an ambassador of Christ, a representative of heaven.  You live in this world, but are no longer a part of it, we are passing through and wait for the glorious day when we can go home.  Don't believe me?  Read:

Romans 3:23

2 Cor. 5:17

Ephesians 1:5

Galatians 4:5-7

John 1:12

Galatians 1:13

Philippians 3:20-21

2 Cor. 5:11-21

Galatians 3:28

and countless more verses!

Racism and divided cultures are found in the Bible as well.  However, I need to clarify that when God told His people to steer clear and don't marry into certain cultures, it had nothing to do with skin color or the culture itself, it had to do with the idolatry and the idol worshiping practices, not skin color.  Read how many times God says that if there is a foreigner (aka a person of different race or culture) who wants to be apart of God's culture and embrace the God of Israel, they were more than welcome and were made a part of God's people with all of the the privileges.  The divide had to do with idol worship and pagan practices, not skin color or bloodline.  I actually had a fellow believer try to trap me with this, I think it had to do with me marrying a white man, I shot that idea down with the truth and this person was speechless, she really thought God promoted racism.  Ridiculous!!!!

There is so much racism in the church (in general).  This evil needs to stop!  We are not called to argue or get involved in world politics or agendas, we are called to be representatives of Jesus.

True story.  When my husband, before we married told his acquaintances (of several cultures) that he was in love with and marrying a Puerto rican woman (for those who are gasping, the question came up because people saw my picture), this is what was said and please excuse this, but it's kinda crude; "uh oh, watch out and don't make her mad, because she will cut off your "huevos rancheros" hahaha!  Trying to lighten it up a bit.  And these were different occasions, different people, it wasn't a one time comment from the same person.  So us, Latin women have a reputation of a very bad temper and harsh reactions, to say the least.  I commented this to a few of my Latin acquaintances, who nodded, laughed and agreed.  Told me "he better watch out".  Well, guess what?  I'm not going to be bound by some culture and be proud of what is a negative stereotype.  I may be Puerto rican, I may be Latin, and yes, I can get mad, but so do other cultures.  However, I am a woman of God and I seek to have the temperament that pleases God, not what has been handed down to me by my bloodline.  Does this mean I'm not proud of my Latin culture?  No.  I love to dance, I love certain music and foods and I am proud to be a "boricua", but I'm prouder to be a Latina who loves Jesus and brings the flaws of my character to the cross for reboot.

I am not saying to not be proud of who you are, celebrate your culture, your beautiful skin color and everything beautiful about your race.  However, we need to close the door to those cultural ideas that cause us to hate our brothers and sisters of different cultures.  Those things that caused inferiority or superiority in your heart and mind.  We need to get rid of those ideas and traditions.  We need to stop licking the wounds of our dead ancestors,  or pounding our chest proudly in name of our dead ancestors who brought others down; we need to stop fearing one another because of skin color, or assuming that a person will shun you because of your race.  I'm talking to the church.  The world is a mess, people are full of hate, it is our job; black, white, yellow, purple, green, to be ambassadors of Christ, bring healing to hearts, not more hate or division.  Racism is from Satan and we have allowed it in the church.

We are not of this world, we are citizens of heaven, ambassadors of Jesus.  We all have sinned, we all need God.   Your poop stinks too.  Race or skin color should never be an issue, or thought when our kids start dating, when our fellow brothers and sisters marry, we welcome a fellow ambassador of Christ into our family.  When my daughters tell me they have a crush or want to date a boy, my questions will be "does he love Jesus? Is he respectful? Not, what race is he?  Yes, I have witnessed this in church, some mom losing her mind because her daughter likes someone of a different race.  I cry when I hear of these ignorant situations.  We need to break these strongholds of racism in our own homes, families, and this freedom from this evil will spread into the church.  It starts in your heart, mind and in your home.

Be free!  Embassador of Christ!
