Do we care?
Good Morning! I know it's been awhile. I am in sort of in a personal metamorphosis of sorts. Finding long lost gifts and aspirations, while adjusting to this new season of mom of teens, aka taxi driver, etc. This compiled with the invasion of age and change. It's been interesting, to say the least.
I woke up this morning burdened and needing some reminders. I opened God's word to Psalm 91, which I have been reading quite a bit and praying over the dangers California is in. Fires to my left, fighting and violence to my right in Tijuana (if I'm facing east, of course)
As I finished Psalm 91, I move to Psalm 90, which has some strong, direct reminders of who we are as people, as the human race, does not matter what race or social status, these words do not discriminate.
"Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
You turn people back to dust,
Saying, 'Return to dust, you mortals.'
A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has gone by, or like a watch in the night.
Yet You sweep people away in the sleep of death---they are like the new grass of the morning; in the morning it springs up new, but by evening it is dry and withered."
This Psalm reminds me of how temporary we are, how, no matter what, there will be an end.
God's most valuable and loved creation, the human race as a whole has forgotten about their creator. They have forgotten how frail they actually are; how frail we actually are. Do we care?
People rise up over other people, whether its regarding social status, political status, religious status as if they are gods. We worship our possessions and money as if these mean anything at all. These fires destroyed the poor man's possessions and the rich man's possessions, now everything is ashes.
And yet we still walk around as if we are something, as if we are entitled to rights, to success, to beauty.
WE ARE NOTHING! WE WERE BORN WITH NOTHING, WE DIE WITH NOTHING!
WE ALL NEED GOD!
IN HIM AND ONLY IN HIM CAN WE TRULY FIND PEACE AND JOY, AN IDENTITY THAT ONLY HE CAN GIVE THROUGH JESUS.
"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom"
Only God, through Jesus, can give us that heart of wisdom. Doesn't matter who you are, you need Jesus.
