There are so many distractions and hindrances that keep us from living out our commitment to Jesus. Let's take a moment to examine some of these hindrances in the light of His word.
Hebrews chapter 11 tells us, by example of some real people with real brokenness, that we are to "walk by faith". These people "believed God's promises, and kept their eyes looking forward". What hinders us from walking in faith? Believing? Looking forward?
(Look up Matthew 6:24-27)
Side note: it is so important to continue/learn to open our Bibles, the one with paper, chapters and verses to underline and write notes. Too many distractions when using our phone to read the Bible. The Bible will never be obsolete!
Fear, timidity, shame
Foolish and godless discussions
( look up 2 Timothy 1:7-8; 2:16, 23; 4:10)
Loving the temporary pleasures of this life more than loving our eternal God
(Look up 1 John 1:6; 2:15-17)
Being spiritually lukewarm
(Look up Revelation 3:15-17)
Things to think about:
What other specific things are hindering you?
What will you do today to "throw off everything that hinders" you from living a life pleasing to God?
